ROCCA RESORT
urban and architectural concept for a resort on the cape of rodon
Cape of Rodon offers strong interplay between mythology and history, which can hardly be separated from each other. The name Rodon is said to come from a God in Illyrian my theology the God of the Sea. According to mythology, Rodon ruled this region between 146-150 BC. The god Redon is a central part of the rich Illyrian mythology, being considered as the most important during the civic period and the flourishing of the Illyrian state. He has always won praise from the Illyrians and his character has become a symbol of immortality. Cape of Rodon is a peninsula, a strip of land that extends deep into the Adriatic Sea. It is the largest cape in Albania. It lies in a triangular shape between Rodon Bay in the north and Lalzi Bay in the south. It is located just one hour from Tirana. Surrounded by clay hills which are distinguished by their round shapes, the small green forests interspersed with the blue of the sea offering a stunning landscape, above all for the scenographic position in which it is located: a rocky form that goes straight towards the sea, surrounded by Mediterranean shrubs and fragrant flowers. The Peninsula of Cape of Rodon offers fantastic nature with orchards and wild landscapes. There are completely untouched beaches, opportunities for hiking, biking and kayaking.
Among the many beauties scattered throughout the area, the castles represent one of the most characterized. Their imposing structures of towers and bastions, the natural and urban landscape that surrounds them and to which they fit harmoniously, enhancing it, the history and legends they carry with them, form the architectural wonders and cultural value of a strategic territory. Over the centuries, many types of fortifications and castles have been built, varying from era to age, depending on the architectural style of the period or the inspiration of those who built them. From castles as defensive structures, it was passed to residential structures, which have preserved the imposing structure, but have lost some military-type architectural elements to take over those of the residential and elegant building. In the Albanian territory we find many: in cities, at the top of hills and mountains, in historic villages and of course at sea. Here we can mention: the Castle of Berat, that of Shkodra, Gjirokastra, Lezha, Himara or Porto Palermo, etc. The mountainous and wooded ridge of the Rodoni Peninsula (Kerçaka Mountain - Muzhlli Mountain) its nature is the perfect place to accommodate a structure in an integrated relationship between nature and landscape.
The project, located at the top of a hilly area, was born with the idea to propose a softened structure in its context, an architectural agglomeration that through its forms recalls the ancient position of the castle. The project is proposed in a strategic position that allows you to enjoy the beautiful 360 ° panorama
